Microchip (RFID) Implant
Microchips are small identifying chips that are placed under the skin of your dog or cat or any other pet. It offers a permanent approach of identifying your pet and linking the animal back to you if they get lost. Each chip has its own special code so that when it is scanned, your pet’s information along with the owner’s contact information will appear so that veterinary hospitals or local shelters can contact the owners. Each year thousands of lost and abandoned animals are taken in by shelters and humane societies across North America. Unfortunately some of these animals never make it home because they cannot be identified. Hence it is highly recommended that you microchip your pet. A dog with a microchip or a cat with a microchip is more likely to make it back home safely.
Advantages of Microchip Implant;
At McQueen Animal Hospital, we have recently introduced the new 24PetWatch MiniChip. This microchip is unique with its small size, being only 1/3 the size of a regular microchip. Because of its small size it causes less discomfort for your pet, making the microchipping experience a much faster and easier procedure. In addition to your microchip, you also receive 45 days of Free Pet Insurance with 24PetWatch.
The “Recover a Pet, Uncover a Cure” is currently a campaign taking place in partnership with 24PetWatch. When you microchip your pet with the new MiniChip, a small portion of every sale will be donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation in the Ontario Region.
We highly recommend and encourage every pet to be micro chipped so that in the event your pet running away or going missing, you increase your chances of your pet being found and identified so that they can be returned home safely and reunited with you. A microchipped dog or a microchipped cat is very easy to identify.

How Microchip Implants help;
Microchips help in identifying your pet in case they go astray and constitute a permanent approach to identify your pet and link him back to you. Each microchip implant is embedded beneath your pet’s skin and has its own unique code so that all the information relating to the pet and the contact details of its owner can be obtained by scanning the microchip. In turn, this enables local shelters or veterinary hospitals to get in touch with you. Thousands of abandoned and lost animals reach shelters and human societies. Some of these animals however never make it back to their homes since there is no means of identifying them.
Recently, a new ‘24PeWath MinChip’ has been introduced at McQueen Animal Hospital. This microchip is small in size and just about 1/3 in size compared to a regular microchip making it very unique. The small size causes very little discomfort for the pet making microchipping an easier and faster process. Further, we also offer a free 45 days Pet Insurance with every 24PetWatch.
Microchip for Traveling with Pets;
In some countries, a microchip is a mandatory requirement for traveling with a pet like a dog or a cat. Microchip helps identify pets in case of loss or misplacement or maybe if there are two very identical pets. A microchip also comes in handy to accurately identify a pet during emergency medication. Dog microchip or a cat microchip is a great help in times of emergency. A microchip is a small investment into the safety and convenience of your pets which have longterm benefits.
