Every Pet Exam includes a careful evaluation of the eyes, as many health issues can first appear through changes in the eyes. In addition, pets can develop sudden eye problems such as infections, injuries, or inflammation that require prompt attention.
Our goal is to identify eye problems early, relieve discomfort, and protect your pet’s vision using modern diagnostic tools and proven treatments.
While we manage the majority of eye conditions in-house, we will recommend referral to a specialist when advanced care is needed.
Common Eye Problems in Pets
Eye conditions are very common, especially in dogs. Some of the signs pet owners may notice include:
- Redness or swelling
- Discharge (yellow, green, or white)
- Squinting or sensitivity to light
- Excessive tearing
- Cloudiness or changes in eye appearance

Dry Eye (KCS) - A Common Condition
Dry eye occurs when your pet does not produce enough tears to keep the eyes properly lubricated. This can lead to thick discharge, Red, inflamed eyes, dull or dry cornea,discomfort and irritation. We can diagnose dry eye with simple in-clinic tests and provide effective treatment to keep your pet comfortable and protect vision.
Glaucoma & Eye Pressure Testing– Certain breeds such as Cocker Spaniels, Beagles, Basset Hounds, Boston Terriers, and Huskies are more prone to glaucoma.Glaucoma is caused by increased pressure inside the eye (intraocular pressure) and can lead to blindness if not treated quickly.At our clinic, we use gentle, non-invasive equipment to measure eye pressure and detect problems early.
